Former Borrusia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp has reportedly agreed to become the new manager of Liverpool.
Klopp, who quit the German side at the end of last season, is set to replace the sacked Brendan Rodgers, and could be announced by the end of the week.
Klopp and his representatives met with Fenway Sports Group president Mike Gordon and Liverpool chief Ian Ayre, and the meeting were said to have gone very well.
Klopp reportedly agreed to a 3-year, £3.6million contract, according to Express.
The 43-year old German is expected to bring some members of his backroom staff, and Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has expressed his interest in joining them.
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t interested – when the new manager comes in I’d love to be on the backroom staff,” he said.
Klopp, who is set to be unveiled on Friday, has already received support for the new job from former Liverpool player Dietmar Hamann.
“The place has been like a morgue for a long time now, and it needed a lift from somewhere and that’s why the change of manager was a logical thing to do,” Hamann said.
“The expectations and the mood couldn’t be any further down than it is at the moment at Anfield, so it is a great time to come.”
“I don’t think with his appointment Liverpool will become title contenders overnight but you need to have a lift from somewhere and I think he can do this.”
