A student has been hospitalized three times after a mystery spider bit
her and left her with a hole in her leg, no exaggerations, as the
pictures show. 16-year old college student, Casey O'Neill from Hampshire
needed to be treated for a month and used crutches after she suffered a
bite from what she believes to be a false widow spider.
The bite was so serious she had to visit hospital, on her first visit
she was prescribed cream but apparently, that didn't do a lot to help
because she was back a second time and this time she was prescribed
strong antibiotics and given bandages which appeared to help because the
pain eased up.
To forestall the risk of an infection setting in she was prescribed even
stronger antibiotics on her third visit. "I didn't pay attention to it
at first, it started off looking like a mosquito bite or something, I
spotted it in the bath" Casey said, "over the following days it started
to become red and swollen, and much more itchy and painful. It was
really disgusting, after it popped the pain was horrible, there was
loads of pus and blood coming out of it".
The whole ordeal has taken over a week but it hasn't fully healed though
Casey is able to walk now and is expected to make a full recovery.
